Don’t buy a pool before you find out these 3 things
If you’re considering building a pool or spa in the metro New Orleans there are many questions you should ask every builder before making a decision. However, during your interview process if you cannot get satisfactory answers in these 3 areas than the rest of the questions may not matter:
1. I would like to see your qualifications
First and foremost, you always want to know if the builder is qualified to do the specified work. Find out how many years of REAL EXPERIENCE they have and what that experience is.
Many inexperienced pool builders, who are just starting out in the business, will advertise “30 years of experience” even though they have never actually built a pool on their own. Ask for their state license, proof of insurance and check their organizational affiliations at a minimum.
2. Show me your customer service record
Customer testimonials are important, but these days it’s hard to tell if they are telling the truth. The Better Business Bureau is one good way to check, but be careful what you find there.
To get to the heart of the matter, ask the pool builder “Have you ever been sued” or try “Do you have any outstanding judgments against you?” You might be surprised by the answer you get. Builders who don’t satisfy their clients usually end up in court quite often and a review of the judicial record will expose many companies that may appear to be legit.
3. Do you have an office and employees or just a truck with your name on it?
Ask your pool contractor how his company is organized. It costs money to maintain an office and to staff it and unless your builder has an organizational structure with a competent staff, you won’t get the service you expect.
Remember, building a pool takes a designer, a superintendent and lots of coordination to do it right. And this is very difficult to do as a one person operation.
At Pleasure Pools we are proud of our record of customer service and our 17 year record of building high quality pools. We invite to visit our office in Metairie or our pool showroom in Mandeville to meet our staff and have these questions answered to your satisfaction.
