4 step instructions for cleaning your filter
Manage your pool filter like a pro
Another important component of pool maintenance is cleaning your pool’s filter. Regular pool maintenance will keep your pool looking clean and chemically balanced, saving you the time and costs of larger repairs later.
Cleaning your filter will keep your filtration system operating properly, moving water and chemicals through the pool to maintain both chemical balance and cleanliness. It is also a pretty simple task that can be accomplished in 4 easy steps:
- First, open the tank and use a hose to remove dirt and debris from the components without taking anything apart.
- If the filter is pretty dirty, you will want to take the elements apart and clean each one thoroughly, being careful so that you will not rip or crush them. The initial hosing will make them lighter and easier to handle so that this step will be less difficult.
- As you put the elements back into place, clean the o-ring carefully. If the o-ring is not clean, the filter will leak.
- When you put the o-ring back into place, gently tap the connecting band as you tighten the components into position. This will slide the o-ring rather than pinching it into position, allowing for optimal placement.
Regular maintenance is the key
The filter is one of the most important components of your pool, although it is one that you probably do not spend a great deal of time thinking about. Taking care to see that it is cleaned properly and regularly will ensure that you get the most enjoyment out of your pool.
